Walk the way
Pedro and Daniel met in 2017 at a footwear design course in Lisbon. They bonded over a shared obsession with sneakers — and a shared frustration with how most of them were made. A year of research followed: sourcing materials, building relationships with artisans, designing their first four models.
By 2019 they launched Wayz through a crowdfunding campaign on Indiegogo, selling 200 pairs in the first month.
Everything is made within a 70km radius of Porto. The leather is vegetable-tanned at a family-run tannery. The soles are natural rubber. The cotton is recycled. Every supplier is a small business they know by name. This isn't a marketing story — it's an operating principle. In an industry built on opacity, Wayz is radically transparent.
Each model is named after a human trait: The Wanderer, The Misfit, The Hedonist, The Sonder. They're designed to outlast trends — retro-inspired silhouettes that age well and can be resoled and repaired. The opposite of disposable.
